Overview

Bakso Chukul is a gem nestled in the heart of Surabaya, specifically located on Jl. Kombes Pol. Moh. Duryat No.41 in Embong Kaliasin. This humble bakso restaurant offers a genuine taste of Indonesian comfort food, focusing primarily on a variety of meatball dishes that cater to both locals and visitors looking for an authentic culinary experience.

The main attraction here is the bakso itself, with standout options like Bakso Campur Halus and Bakso Kasar. These meatballs shine due to their high-quality meat content, retaining a rich, robust flavor without being overly processed with fillers. This commitment to quality is often noted by diners who appreciate the delicate balance between texture and taste in every bite. The broth complements the meatballs perfectly — clear, savory, and well-seasoned — inviting you to savor each spoonful.

Bakso Chukul also offers interesting accompaniments such as crunchy kerupuk, delicate pangsit goreng fillings, and refreshing beverages like Es Jeruk and coconut-based drinks like Es Degan Esteh. These help round out the meal, providing subtle contrasts of texture and flavor that elevate the overall dining experience.

The restaurant’s space is straightforward and unpretentious. It embodies the typical Indonesian "depot" style—modest yet cozy enough for casual dining. While it may not boast elaborate decor or modern amenities, the welcoming atmosphere and cleanliness, albeit with minor critiques about restroom maintenance, make it suitable for families, office workers on lunch breaks, and anyone craving a no-fuss, hearty meal.

One practical aspect of Bakso Chukul is its location in a busy neighborhood, attracting crowds especially during peak hours. The area is accessible, and parking is manageable, which adds to its appeal for local diners. The affordability of their menu combined with generous portions draws a diverse audience, from students to working professionals, all seeking substantial meals that do not stretch the budget.

What makes Bakso Chukul stand out in Surabaya’s vibrant bakso scene is its sincerity in delivering quality meatballs with flavors that linger pleasantly. Whether you opt for the mixed bakso variant or the simple, pure broth with meatballs, the experience promises satisfaction. It’s a spot where authenticity and taste take center stage over ambiance, and where every visitor can enjoy a true taste of Indonesian meatball soup tradition.

The flavor is delightful. The meatballs are incredibly flavorful, the soup is delicious, the coconut beverages are also excellent, and the pricing is incredibly affordable. We only paid 100k for a group of four. Finding parking is generally hassle-free, although it can get crowded during lunchtime.

The place is kinda big, but the atmosphere is kinda hot, because we sit near to each other. But the food (bakso) are delicious, i like siomay the most. The price also average, not too expensive i guess. The parking lot is kinda vast, enough for around 7-8 cars, and 20 - 30 motorcycles, which must be arranged, so it can fit perfectly.

Food is good at reasonable price. There's always queuing at all time so do not expect express-arrived type of bakso, but waiting time still reasonable.
